Pricing & Free plan
Is Preserver really free?
Yes. Truly free — no free trial, no freemium paywall, no subscription. You'll see small, unobtrusive banner ads that fund the app, but there's no registration, no credit card, and no upsells. Ever.
How does Preserver make money if it's free?
Through small, unobtrusive banner advertisements shown within the app. This model means you are not the product — your data is never sold or shared. The ads fund the app while your captures stay completely private.
Are there any hidden costs or premium tiers?
No. There is no premium tier, no in-app purchases, and no features locked behind a paywall. Everything Preserver does is available to every user from the moment they download it.
Do I need to create an account or register?
No registration required at all. Just download the app and start capturing immediately. We never ask for your name, email address, or any personal details.
Privacy & Data
Where is my data stored?
On your device, by default. If you choose, you can store your Activities in your personal cloud account (Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox, etc.). You're always in control — nothing is shared with anyone unless you actively choose to share it.
Do you share my data with third parties?
Never. Preserver does not sell, share, or use your data for AI training. No data is accessible to anyone but you. We use banner ads to keep the app free, but no ad platform has access to your captures or personal data.
Does Preserver use AI on my data?
No. Your captures are never used to train AI models. If you use optional AI features within the app, those are processed on-demand only and never stored or used for any training purposes.
Can Preserver see my captures?
No. Your captures are stored on your device and, if you choose, in your own cloud account. Preserver as a company has no access to what you record. There is no server where your content is uploaded to us.
What happens to my data if I delete the app?
Your data is stored on your device, so deleting the app removes it from that device. If you've backed up to a personal cloud account (Google Drive, iCloud, etc.), your captures remain there under your control.
Features & Capture
What types of media can I capture?
Text notes, voice recordings (with optional transcription), photos, and video — all within a single Activity entry. Everything is automatically stamped with date, time and GPS at the moment of capture.
What metadata is captured automatically?
Every capture is automatically stamped with date, time, and GPS coordinates. Unlike most apps, this metadata stays embedded in your data even when you export or share it — so your proof of time and location travels with the record.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Absolutely. Preserver works completely offline — no Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or mobile data required. GPS capture works via satellite with no network connection at all. Your captures are stored on your device until you choose to back them up or share them.
Does GPS work without mobile signal?
Yes. GPS positioning uses satellites, not mobile towers or Wi-Fi. It works underground, in aircraft, in remote areas, and anywhere else there is no mobile or data signal. This is one of Preserver's most important features for field users.
What is an Activity?
An Activity is a container for a related set of captures — for example, a job site visit, a field research session, or a day's notes. Within each Activity you can mix text, voice, photos and video, all sharing the same timestamp and location context.
How do I export or share my captures?
From within any Activity, you can share directly to other apps, export to your cloud storage, or send via email or messaging. You control exactly what gets shared and with whom. The GPS and timestamp metadata travels with the export.
Can I add notes after the fact?
Yes, you can add additional captures to an Activity at any time. The original captures retain their original timestamps, so the record of when each item was captured is always accurate and tamper-evident.
Platforms & Compatibility
Is Preserver available on iOS and Android?
Yes — Preserver is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Download it free on either platform with no restrictions between versions.
Is there a desktop or web version?
Currently Preserver is a mobile app for iOS and Android. Your captures can be accessed on desktop by exporting them to your cloud storage (Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox) and opening them on any device.
What iOS and Android versions are supported?
Preserver supports iOS 15 and above, and Android 8 and above. For the best experience, we recommend keeping your device's OS updated to the latest version.
Can I use Preserver on multiple devices?
Yes. Because there's no account, each device operates independently. If you back up to a shared cloud account (e.g., family Google Drive), captures from multiple devices can be stored together. Direct cross-device sync is on our roadmap.
Professional & Compliance Use
Can I use Preserver for professional or compliance purposes?
Yes. Preserver is used across 40+ industries for timestamped evidence, field records, compliance documentation, and more. The automatic GPS and timestamp metadata makes it suitable for evidence-grade capture in many professional contexts.
Is the timestamp tamper-proof?
The timestamp is captured at the device level at the moment of recording and is not editable within the app. While no digital timestamp is fully tamper-proof in an absolute legal sense, the metadata is embedded and travels with the file, making alterations detectable. For critical legal matters, consult a legal professional.
Can Preserver be used as legal evidence?
Preserver captures are increasingly used to support legal matters — disputes, insurance claims, workplace incidents and more. Whether records are accepted as evidence depends on the jurisdiction and the context. The GPS and timestamp metadata significantly strengthens the credibility of any capture. Consult a legal professional for your specific situation.
White-label & Business
Can Preserver be white-labelled for our organisation?
Yes. We offer full white-label rebuilds with your branding, colours, logo, workflow templates and custom capture categories. The white-label app is published under your organisation's App Store and Google Play accounts. Contact us via the Feedback page to discuss your requirements.
How long does a white-label build take?
Typically 4–10 weeks from signed agreement to app store submission, depending on the complexity of customisations and integrations required. We involve your team in testing rounds before submission.
Do you offer API integration for white-label deployments?
Yes. White-label deployments can be configured to export data to your own infrastructure, case management systems, or third-party platforms via API. This is scoped during the discovery phase of your engagement.
